The City of Santa Ana’s Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Agency is thrilled to unveil three vibrant new mascots poised to represent the agency, and they’re turning to the community for help in giving them distinctive names.
In a bid to involve the community in this exciting endeavor, a comprehensive poll will be conducted over the coming weeks. The mascots, each symbolizing the essence of Santa Ana, include a red-crowned amazon parrot, a golden-headed lion tamarin, and a giant-river otter. These unique animals were carefully chosen to reflect the diverse spirit of the city, with parrots gracefully soaring across the skyline, tamarins carrying a rich history from the zoo, and otters becoming the latest charming residents of Santa Ana.
The community poll, a democratic process open to all, will be accessible through various channels, including event sites, the official website, and social media platforms. Residents and enthusiasts alike are invited to participate and cast their votes to name these mascots. The poll is set to conclude on December 17, 2023, and the chosen names will be unveiled on January 1, 2024, marking the beginning of the new year with the exciting announcement of the mascots’ identities.
These three charismatic mascots are destined to become integral parts of the community, attending Parks and Recreation events and programs. Through their appearances, they will embody the agency’s commitment to fostering opportunities to learn, live, and explore the vibrant city of Santa Ana.
Voting is now open, and you can cast your ballot at santa-ana.org/parks-recreation-mascots until Sunday, December 17, 2023. Join the city in shaping the identity of these lively mascots and be a part of Santa Ana’s exciting new chapter.
